Unto Us

December 25, 2018 // William Boggs

Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born. Unto us a Son is given.

When our Savior Jesus stepped down from Heaven to come  to earth, He completely humbled Himself. He stepped out of the splendor of heaven and left His glorified, perfect, and Heavenly body, and was born into the lowliest of conditions to two imperfect earthly parents who He had created Himself.

Ultimately, Jesus was born to die in our place on the cross and provide salvation to all who would believe in Him. Jesus completely emptied Himself so that we might gain everything in this life.

Ultimately, unto us the child Jesus was born, who emptied Himself of all His splendor, so we could gain life and be recued from death.

Think of your birth.  You were probably born in pretty good conditions, cared for by doctors and nurses, and then taken home to a warm house. Jesus, the Savior of the world was born to a filthy barn with smelly, dirty animals.

This Christmas let us follow Christ’s example. Let us empty ourselves of all our earthly accolades and materialistic gain and worship Christ our Savior, who alone is worthy of all praise. Instead of staying so focused on “things” for Christmas, focus on how you can give of yourself to God and to others.
