Not Fatherless

June 13, 2018 // Denise Boggs

Have you ever stopped to think about the feeling of being fatherless? We live in a time when it’s not just the orphans in India that suffer from fatherlessness, it’s those of us who grew up with a father who left or a father who was present but not connected. His absence left everyone in the home vulnerable to the lies of the enemy. The father of the home is like the front door of a house. If the father is not there, it’s like living in a house without a door and all the while wondering why there are so many flies and critters in the house. When Jesus steps on the scene He says, “All critters have to go!” Today, if you know Jesus, you can rest assured He is in His place as the doorway to lead us to our true Father. When we are fathered by God, we can spot a fly (or a lie of the enemy) in a minute and get rid of it.

Jesus made the way for all the fatherless feelings to be put away and the full identity of being a son or daughter, born again into God’s family, to be a daily reality. The conquering power that we have through Jesus is the ability to see a lie and not put up with it! As a child of God, we are not fatherless and we should not tolerate the lies of the enemy anymore.

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been fathered by God, and everyone who loves the Father loves the child fathered by Him… And His commandments do not weigh us down, because everyone who has been fathered by God conquers the world. This is the conquering power that has conquered the world: our faith.” (1 John 5:1,3b-4)
